Most bars and pubs in the city are somewhat upscale, but many inexpensive restaurants serve beer and good quality food.
If you just need to go out you could go to one of the bars, but if you would like to have a great social experience and are in the city for a considerable period of time consider becoming a member of one of the social expat clubs in the city. The IVES Club (http://www.ives.in) offers a meeting for it's members every Saturday at one or the other popular nightclubs in Bengaluru, its members are interns, expats, volunteers and exchange students residing in the city.
